Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
The United States Playing Card Company has been making playing cards since 1867. One of their most famous lines of playing cards is Bicycle, the top selling playing card brand in the world.
Bicycle is now producing two new games: Take the Train, a shedding game, and 4-Mation, a rummy game. Other games Bicycle produces include the card game Po-ke-no, a handcrafted Tic-Tac-Toe board, and four other kids card games.
And I bet you didn’t know that they were illegal. The law even specifies which games: five-card draw, Texas Hold’em, and seven-card stud. A 200-year old law currently outlaws all card and dice gambling games in the state.

Shadowmoor, the next block in Magic’s never-ending stream of card blocks, is due out in May. The second set in the block will be called Eventide and is due out in July.
At the New York Toy Fair, Winning Moves will be demoing some of the following interesting games, among others:
In this new edition of the classic game, players build words on
their boards simultaneously! After each round, players have the option to
choose a replacement letter from the bag or select one of the face-up tiles
on the prize tile podium. Another new feature is the wild tile. Each time a
wild tile is played, the player who utilizes the tile must swap boards with
an opponent, thwarting his strategy.
In this lively European dice game (first enjoyed in Poland in the early
1940’s) players battle to get each of the five animals on the farm: rabbit,
sheep, pig, cow, and horse. Players build and trade their way to a complete
“herd” of animals, and try to avoid rolling the hungry wolf or sly fox that
will make a meal out of the herd.
As well as deluxe versions of Monopoly and Parcheesi, a reprint of Careers, and other games.
