BattleFMX: A Motorcross CCG with Dice

battlefmx.jpgBattleFMX is a dice and CCG game about motorbike racing from Illektron.

It features Freestyle Motocross superstar Brian Deegan, along with Metal Mulisha Team members Todd Potter & Jeremy Lusk (like I know who these guys are).

The object of the game is to play out a Freestyle MX show, scoring or subtracting pointz (sic) by matching the dice combinations shown on the cardz (sic). Which means, each round you play a card that either adds to your total or subtracts from your opponent’s total. First player to 100 points win.

say_anything.jpgFollowing up on Cluzzle and their big hit Wits and Wagers, North Star Games will soon release their next party game: Say Anything.

The basic idea: one person reads a question aloud about their preferences, e.g. “If I could have a big something, what would that something be?” Other players write answers for that person. He or she selects the answer with which he or she most agrees, and then other players bet on which answer was selected.

Dominic (the publisher) describes it as the love-child between Wits and Wagers and Apples to Apples, which is fair enough. Except that it requires writing, rather than answering with pre-written answers.

abundance_game.jpgEntering into the “games that are very expensive because their creators pompously think they can sell them as business investment tools” market is the game Abundance (originally called Serve to be Rich).

Where Cashflow 101 teaches you why investing is the key to financial independence, Abundance teaches that acquiring wealth is the key to spiritual happiness.

treaty_board_game.jpgThe Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group was created in 1993 to jointly negotiate a treaty between natives of British Columbia and the governments of British Columbia and Canada. Negotiations have been underway for over 14 years.

Apparently, the terminology and history is so confusing, even those involved in the process don’t understand all of it. To address this, Joey Caro, treaty group communications manager, created a board game called The Treaty Board Game.

One can only hope it takes less than 14 years to play.

Pathfinder Miniatures

p-002.jpgCrocodile Games is shipping new miniatures for Paizo Publishing’s Pathfinder series of d20 fantasy adventures. The miniatures are unpainted, 28mm white metal and are based on characters and concepts from “Burnt Offerings,” chapter 1 in the first Pathfinder series.

floor-games.jpgSkirmisher Publishing is now offering Floor Games by H.G. Wells through DriveThruRPG. The book is a not-so-serious study of children’s games played with toy miniatures and models. It is also available in print form through Amazon, as is Wells’ later work, and perhaps the first example of a miniatures war game rule set, Little Wars.
