Goblin Slayer is a new free downloadable two-player fantasy board game from Shrapnel Games.

One player controls Stormbeard the dwarf on his quest for the Shimmering Widget, while the other leads the throngs of goblins in hopes of striking the dwarf down and then possibly eating him; dwarf kidneys are sometimes considered a delicacy in the underdark and their skulls make great hats.

This is a “full-automatic” mah-jong table. Aside from looking sweet, and weighing 100 kg, it’s description reads:

Automatic Mahjong table adopts the working principle of electricity, light and magnetism, and it is controlled by microcomputer programs. It can effectively achieve the automatic shuffling and dealing of Poker tiles, and automatic dice tossing in a quick and fair way, with stable performance, long period of non-malfunction, and adding entertainment interests. First Heroscape from Wizards

In the first releases since taking over the Heroscape line from parent company Hasbro, Wizards of the Coast announced the availability of two new expansion sets for this June. Defenders of Kinsland will feature 19 painted figures of Knights, ninjas, dragons, ogres, spiders, and soulborgs. Aquilla’s Alliance and Ticalla Jungle will include five large painted figures, as well as detailed jungle trees and brush.

Classic Fighting Robots

After last month’s review of Shadowrun, Wired’s Geekdad Wednesday began a two-part review of another FASA classic, BattleTech. The game, also now produced by Catalyst Game Labs, began as a tabletop miniatures combat system. Over time, though, BattleTech developed an extensive background story and saw roleplaying enhancements. Returning fans and newcomers alike will enjoy the Classic BattleTech Introductory Box Set.

Mr. Men and Domo

Playthings reports that Pressman Toy will produce board games based on The Mr. Men Show, which airs on Cartoon Network, and Domo, the mascot of Japanese television station NHK and soon to be the subject of an animated series on Nicktoons Network.

Red Russia

Avalanche Press is shipping a new game on the Russian Civil War of 1918-1921. Red Russia by designer William Sariego uses the Soldier Kings game system to model the conflict between the Reds, the Allied Interventionists, the Siberian Whites, the Southern Whites, and the Northern Whites. As in other games using this system, players must sustain their military forces with resources gained from land they control.
