Invest in Eco-games

Kvale Good Natured Games publishes eco-themed board games, including:

  • Head1Lines, a party game where you try to write a headline to match a photograph
  • Bioviva, a party trivia game with amazing scientific facts

And another nine games, for all ages.

In addition to their game themes, the games themselves are created, from start to finish, in the most environmentally friendly way possible, according to owner Tom Kvale.

They’re looking for investors to meet a marketing goal of $1.2 million by 2011.

Get your nominations in by the end of June so the peer review can begin.

Nefertiti

From Rio Grande Games, Nefertiti has started showing up at U.S. retailers. In this game, players help the ancient Egyptian king Akhenaton collect gifts for his wife Nefertiti. A quick playing game (estimated at 45 minutes), it’s recommended for 3-4 players.

See Page XX

The latest issue of See Page XX, a free online magazine, is available on Pelgrane Press’ website. This issue is audio heavy, with Cthulhu theme music and an interview of Jason Morningstar conducted by Luke Crane.

World Atlas for Epic Roleplaying

Dark Matter Studios is offering a new setting book for its Epic Role Playing game, the game where combat is deadly, magic is rare, and where you come from is important. In fact, I’d say that the Atlas of Eslin itself is an epic affair. The book is over 300 pages and details eight continents’ worth of cultures, over 200 professions, and numerous adventure hooks.

$50,000 Champion of Rock Paper Scissors

Sean Sears, an amateur player won $50,000 as champion of the 2008 Bud Light/USA Rock Paper Scissors League Championship in Las Vegas.

There are, supposedly, opportunities for skillful play in RPS: knowing what people tend to use and how they tend to repeat or pick patterns over several hundred plays. So for an amateur like Sean to sweep to victory must be a setback for those, such as the World RPS Society, who trumpet RPS as a game of skill.
