A Russian mathematical student was crowned Chessboxing champion after defeating a German policeman.

Chessboxing takes the two great sports of Boxing and Chess and combines them in their obvious, natural, harmonious way.

Green Ronin Publishing recently announced that the A Song of Ice and Fire roleplaying game, eagerly awaited by fans of George R.R. Martin, has been delayed until October. The game is essentially finished, however it is awaiting review by Mr. Martin, who is busy working on A Dance With Dragons. Archaeologists uncovered an ancient burial ground near Abydos, and with the human bones they found ivory playing pieces.

The Egyptian news agency MENA said that the pieces were Chess-like and that the only similar set was found in the tomb of Tutankhamun.
