io9, Gawker’s sci-fi blog, covers Dust (I bet you thought I was going to say “Dust covers io9″).
Dust is a Risk-like game from Fantasy Flight Games with over 800 pieces and set in a WWII combat zone infused with alien technology.
They love the concept, and I admit it’s a great theme. People who love Risk and long games with dice will probably like the game. It’s not for the Euro gamers.

From Mick Bradley’s TGTMB blog/podcast we learn about the Jeremy “Boo” Rochman Memorial Park in Carbondale, Illinois. The public park was built by Jeremy’s parents as a memorial after the avid Dungeons & Dragons gamer died in an automobile accident. Check out the pics from Mick’s visit on his Picasa photo album. The park contains many of the standard D&D fantasy elements, including a castle and large dragon. What a great place to take the kids. I can’t imagine a better place for introducing the next generation to the sense of wonder and adventure that we get from RPGs.
By the way, to help support maintenance of the park, you can donate here.
Columbia Games’ entry in Free RPG Day is now available for the rest of us to purchase. The Field of Daisies adventure module includes mystery and exploration elements, a detailed adventure location, and quick-start rules for the HarnMaster roleplaying system. From its reputation, HarnMaster might be a good choice if you’re interested in a gritty low-magic game.
