Excavations in the northwestern Palace of Facets in Veliky Novgorod uncovered a Chess piece dating from the 14th century.

Chess was popular in Veliky Novgorod since the 13th century.

Source says 82 other pieces from the 14th century were also unearthed, but doesn’t say when or where, or if it was part of the same dig (if it was, one wonders why the 83rd deserved its own press release).

The Enneagram is a personality profile philosophy, with lots of mystical concepts and other such things I couldn’t be bothered to read through in its entirety.

An Enneagram coach, Per Striegler, has developed a board game called Life Prison to teach the Enneagram principles. Unfortunately, all the information about the game is in Danish, so if anyone can help translate, much obliged.

There’s a teaser video for the game, but it’s not much help.

Magic: The Gathering in Dubai

There’s a guy trying to form a Magic: The Gathering league in Dubai, where guys still can’t admit to women that they play games and where Magic and Pokemon cards are looked at suspiciously by customs authorities as possible sorcery tools.

The guy’s name? Omar Sharif. No, not that one, although that one was a famous Bridge player.
