There is a Chess Journalists of America, whose major activity appears to be giving awards to Chess web sites and magazines, but who also publishes a quarterly journal reviewing Chess books, mainstream media, and interviews with writers.

There’s also a World Chess Hall of Fame, whose inductee list hasn’t been updated since 2003 but includes the illustrious gentleman Bobby Fischer (2001). Their Chess history includes as major topics Chess and baseball, Chess and presidents, and Chess in Superman comics.
