After much anticipation, Tomb from Alderac Entertainment Group has started arriving at retailers. Tomb is a dungeon-crawl board game where players work against each other to hide treasure, traps, and monsters. With an estimated playing time of just 1 hour, the game is designed to be fast paced. Little set-up is required as the crypt is only laid out as the party of players progresses.

Houses of the Blooded Sale

I can’t help but be a little contrary, even with myself. So I thought I’d point out that the hottest RPG deals available now aren’t limited to d20 products. Houses of the Blooded, described by its author as the anti-D&D roleplaying game, is also on sale for a limited time. Right now, the PDF is available through Indie Press Revolution for just $5! At that price, even the electrons might run out!

Purple Pawn Joins RPG Bloggers

This week Purple Pawn joined the RPG Bloggers Network, a great website for finding links to interesting posts on a range of RPG topics—now with an extra bit of news thrown in. If you’re interested in more detailed reviews, gaming tips, resource ideas, or other roleplaying goodness, I highly suggest you check the network out. I didn’t count, but it looks like there’s about 50 member blogs so far. And for anyone who’s arrived here through a link there, welcome! We do our best to keep you posted with interesting news about RPGs and all other types of tabletop games.

d20 Deals

With the release of Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition, Wizards of the Coast withdrew its license for 3rd party use of the d20 trademark. After December 31, 2008, publishers will be prohibited from selling products with the d20 logo. So a number of them have put their remaining products up for sale at deeply discounted prices. Atlas Games has lowered the MSRP on d20 print titles by 54 to 85 percent (available online through Warehouse 23). Goodman Games has their’s at 50 percent off. Troll Lord Games is running a BIG CLEAN sale with products reduced to $1-$10. If you know of others, share your tips in the comments.

Bella Sara’s Family Reunion

Hidden City Games has announced two new promotion kits for their popular Bella Sara card game, designed to bring families closer together.  The first kit has a poster and 30 promotional cards while the second kit (in December) will include a new “family night” poster and 2 exclusive foil cards.  Both kits are part of the “family reunion” storyline/promotion that will launch as part of the new Baby Bella set.  “Family reunion” encourages families to join together to play Bella Sara themed games and “share positive messages” in order to get cards that complete the storyline and reunite the family.  From the Bella Sara website:

Dusk and Dawn, the two beautiful foals of Aurora and Rimfaxe, always find their way home by following the direction of the sun.  One unusual day in North of North an eclipse of the sun caused Dusk and Dawn to be confused because it was neither night nor day.  Concerned, the parents sent out the children’s teacher, Wildflower, to find them.  Aurora and Rimfaxe are awaiting the return of their foals and news from Wildflower.

Bring a happy ending to this sad tale!

The promotion begins on October 7th!
