Crafty Games has announced that they have secured the rights to popular science-fantasy trilogy, Mistborn. The series by Brandon Sanderson follows the adventurers of a female thief named Vin living in the capital city of the Final Empire, a land ruled by immortal despots. Vin discovers that she is a mistborn – a person capable of ingesting metals in order to manifest extraordinary abilities. Sanderson himself is expected to provide content for the game (in between his work finishing the Wheel of Time series for the deceased Robert Jordan!). Not much is known about the game, but Crafty is expected to continue its relationship with Mongoose Publishing for publication of the book. The game will be published as both a print and PDF title in summer of 2009.
Specialist Games, the extra cool branch of Games Workshop dedicated to their one-off games, has announced that they will no longer be updating the Specialist Games forums. As part of the world-wide roll out of the new Games Workshop site, the forums will no longer be actively maintained by the Games Workshop staff. Rather than lose the great community that has formed around the site, GW has arranged support with several dedicated fans who will be providing administration of the site. Thumbs up to GW for recognizing the value of a thrivant customer community!

Jerry and Shirley Everett would like you to try their board game, Living Life Abundantly. Unfortunately, at $125, not many people are taking them up on that. The couple designed the game to teach families about “God’s laws for prosperity.” Not to knock the spiritual lessons you might learn from the game, but at that price, a better bet for prosperity might be the stock market.

In a recent blog post, actor and author Wil Wheaton takes his readers on a quick nostalgia trip through his RPG collection, and then muses on what he enjoys most about the experience of playing.
I’d forgotten how much I liked to roll it old school, where we’d just sit in a bunch of chairs or on couches and work together to tell a story.

Dice are a common element of many games. And whether it’s because of limited space or just an interest in cool accessories, many gamers use dice towers (also know as dice boots) to control their rolls. If you’re interested in assembling your own, you can purchase plans with step-by-step instructions from Blue Panther on DriveThruRPG. Free directions for making a foamboard dice tower are available on Instructables. Alternatively, for high-style or custom designs, there’s VixenTor Games, where dice towers in the form of waterfalls, haunted castles, and winged dragons are available for $75 to $300.
According to Columbia Reports another group of high-school girls were possessed by a demon after playing the Ouija board game.
‘It’s possible that they were affected by an invocation of demons or a game of Ouija, but the truth is that this has no medical or psychiatric treatment, only Catholic priests and pastors can understand it,’ said pastor Luis Héctor García.
The girls were seen by their classmates writhing, beating themselves, and screaming incomprehensible phrases. Apparently, though, incidents like this have been going on since just after the previously reported possessions about two weeks ago. I guess we know where the missing Ouija board ended up.
