Operational Studies Group Shutting Down

Operational Studies Group (NapoleanGames.com) is closing up shop. Sorry to hear it.

They’re having a closing sale: 50% off everything, and additional discounts if you don’t need the box.

Some nifty games for sale at good prices.

I’m kind of partial to this one (source)

The First Annual Canadian National Risk Championship Board Game Tournament (or FACNRCBGT, for short), is underway at the Salvation Army Church in Woodstock. It has 12 participants.

Proceeds from the entry fees benefit the Salvation Army. A recent Crokinole championship had 350 participants, so here’s hoping for a better turnout next time.

I’m curious as to how they plan on enforcing the “no alliances” clause in the rules.

Other interesting rules: Players may not roll dice on or toward the board. No dice “banging”. Dice must be rolled, not “dropped, jumped, thumped, pelted, or skirted.”

Board Games Now will be a new site featuring print and play games for sale.

The site claims that only tested and approved games will be available, and popular games will be made into real boxed versions for those who want. The sample print and play games are listed at around $30; if that’s not an error, I hate to see how much the boxed versions cost.
