Cthulhu in Leather

There’s now another format option for Trail of Cthulhu, the Gumshoe-based RPG. This one might be considered a bit extravagant, but somehow it seems thematically appropriate. At IPR, it is now available leatherbound for $89. However, quantities are extremely limited. At the time of posting, there were only five remaining.

You may have run across this press release from Fantasy Flight Games stating that they will no longer be providing distribution for the Rackham line of products, specifically AT-43 and Confrontation.  If you haven’t picked up from my posts on this site and others, I’m quite fond of both games and was quite hopeful that one or both would “make it.”

Now you may find yourself wondering: “Why is he writing a eulogy for these games?  Its not like I won’t be able to order them from Rackham!”  While that’s true, let’s think back to Rackham’s track record for the distribution of both games (a period I like to call the dark age of pre-painted miniatures):

Did you ever play Monopoly and say “Boy! What a great game, but I sure wish it would take three times as long to play for 6 to 8 players. Around 6 to 8 hours would be about right.”

Sure you have. And lucky for you you can buy Triopoly, a Monopoly-style game that comes with three cool games boards arranged in 3-D layers. There’s dozens of extra rules, spaces, and cards, leaving plenty of place for everyone to buy lots of everything and keep the game going for a whole day of Monopoly-style fun.

And best of all, extra money on the Free Parking space is now an official rule.

Susannah Lees designed and began launching a game called Media Mogul in 2005. However, before she could really get the launch underway, she died of a brain tumor at age 36.

Now, her parents are relaunching the game. The object is to buy up the most media titles using blind bidding and random media lots. It plays for 2 to 6 players. Various other rules make the game sound quite decent.

The new production is somehow supposed to raise awareness about the brain tumor trust.

While you’re here, you can pre-order on eBay either MONOPOLY: Tampa Bay Rays 2008 World Series Champions Collector’s Edition or MONOPOLY: Philadelphia Phillies 2008 World Series Champions Collector’s Edition, to be produced by USAopoly. Only the game corresponding to the team that wins will actually get created, however.
