Mow Em Down is a board game about lawn mowers from Matt Saunders. Specifically, about Walker lawn mowers. I don’t know much about lawn mowers, but I assume that Walker mowers have some sort of fan following.

The game is in the Euro game genre, designed by a geek, and involves blind bidding, area control, and tile placement.

Here’s Tom Vasel’s review:

Modern Tribe took the age old dull Jewish game of Dreidel and crossed it with the modern poker fad known as Texas Hold’em to create No Limit Texas Dreidel. They even give instructions on how to host a NLTD tournament.

Howdy, chaver? Shalom, y’all?

Whatever. My experience in playing with chocolate coins is that everyone has less “money” than they started with by the end of the game.

How Many Times to Shuffle a Deck

Until now, it was known that seven times is the magic number for how many times you have to shuffle a deck of cards to get a randomized deck. I didn’t know that some people questioned this assertion and maintained that six is sufficient. Seven is still a better guide, as most people are poor shufflers.

A new paper in Science News tells us that, for games in which some types of randomness are unecessary, four shuffles if sufficient. For instance, in Blackjack, the suits are irrelevant.

Here’s more than you ever wanted to know about shuffling.

Miss World Game

The Miss World Game from 1974 comes complete with four dolls in bathing suits, three white dolls with white, blond, and red hair, and one black doll with black hair. All the dolls are from the same mold.

Also comes with a catwalk and a stage to celebrate your victory.

There are no boys pictured playing the game on the box. How sexist!
