Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.

I leave you, to go the road we all must go.
The road I would choose, if only I could, is the other.

Back in college as the only engineering student in Professor Murase’s course on The Arts of Japan, I had an opportunity to study The Tale of Genji, the world’s earliest known novel. I’ve gone back to read parts of it several times over the years with no inclination that this romantic tale of imperial court life in Japan could form the basis for a board game. Nevertheless, that’s what Z-Man has done with Genji, a game in players compete with poetry.

Kind of proves you don’t always need the latest IP license for an interesting game.
