GW 2009 Tournament Circuit

GW LogoGames Workshop has released the details for their 2009 Tournament Circuit.  All of the old partners from last year are back and they’ve added five new ones.  For those who aren’t familiar with it, the Tournament Circuit is a group of independent events that GW brings together as a single “circuit” in order to improve the visibility of the events overall.  The circuit covers a pretty good chunk of the US, so chances are there’s an event near you.  Of course, there’s nothing near me.  Again.  Sigh.

Deadlands Board Game

twilight-creationsDeadlands, the “Weird West” roleplaying setting from Pinnacle Entertainment, is being turned in to a board game by Twilight Creations. Twilight’s current flagship product is the Zombies!!! game, which certainly gives them some previous experience in the undead horror genre. No details are available yet on the upcoming game, other than that the intended release date is June 2009.

We Can Be Heroes II

we-can-be-heroes-iiThis new release from TFP Games is a light-hearted miniatures-game version of the modern action movie. The combat mechanics are pretty straightforward but player actions are restricted by the availability of cards. Also, the game encourages the performance of heroic feats through the use of Hero Points.

3:16

316There’s no doubt what this game is about… or is there? Subtitled “Carnage Amongst the Stars,” it’s straight in to combat, with time for character development later. Players take on the role of Terran Space Troopers sent to eliminate any and all alien civilizations they encounter. But what about that character development? Delayed but by no means forgotten, characters’ motivations, principles, and personality are formed through flashbacks, and thus tied strongly to their current actions.

Anyway, in celebration of his birthday, the author is offering 3:16 for the highly discounted price of $3.16.
