Just in case there are a few of you out there who haven’t been to BoardGameGeek, you owe it to yourselves to check it out. BGG, as it’s affectionately known, is the premier information resource and social networking site for board games on the internet. Co-founder and chief administrator, Scott Alden (Aldie), has posted a year-end summary for the website and the statistics are very impressive! Through December 20th, BGG had been visited by nearly 8½ million people. The number of registered users is currently over 225,000.
With a few new models just added, it’s a good time to mention Land Ironclads, a line of miniatures and combat rules from Brigade Models. The game is like a steampunk version of Ogre.
The kings of the battlefield are huge fighting machines, the Ironclads of the title, which cross the landscape on tracks, wheels or even primitive mechanical legs, dealing destruction wherever they go. Small steam-driven machines, known as contraptions and akin to the tanks of the First World War, scurry between the hulking ironclads creating their own smaller form of mayhem.
The latest additions are British and German ironclad divisions, but also available are Olympians, giant alien mechanical walkers.

I mean that literally. Because if you’re looking for a little holiday attitude, Purple Pawn’s got you covered! First up, we have the Grinch for Heroscape—a unique hero who can steal others’ special powers and use them himself. Second is the Santa Claws Gang. Imagine these guys sneaking down the chimney while you sleep. And finally, Santa Claus Wars, a miniatures game where Santa is the good guy but is forced to take up arms to defend against an assault by Jack Frost.
