Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Right now, you can pick up a set of the two Dominion promo cards (Black Market and Envoy) for $0.01 from the BoardGameGeek store. For those who aren’t familiar with Dominion, its a relatively new card game from Rio Grande Games where players use a starting deck of cards in order to buy more cards, which are added to their deck. Doesn’t sound like much, but its been one of the break out hits of 2008 (and I’ve personally marked about 60 plays over the last month). Its a deep and highly addictive game and for a penny, the promo cards are a great bargain.
Dungeon Looter is a fantasy-themed rummy game with a wonky scoring system that looks like it could take a long time to finish.
On your turn, you pick from the deck or discard pile, and meld pairs or add to previously existing melded pairs. The first to get to 25 points wins the round; if no one does, play more rounds. The player who wins a round gets 5 adventure point. Play goes to 25 adventure points.
Boing Boing featured two unusual Chess sets today; they must really want links from us.

The Democratic Chess Set: Democratic Chess is Chess game where each figure is made of an IP-WLan-network camera each capable of looking arround, listening and talking to the other figures as well as the 2 real person players. With this technology there are many different ways how to play the Game, the next move can be decided in a democratic way among the Figures or they are allowed to discuss with the players and each other the next moves, but at the End the 2 player make the moves.

The Boym Chess Set: A Chess set with 32 hand carved wooden pieces representing historical items from the last century. Comes in a 4 foot by 4 foot board/box, and is of a limited edition of 8.
The Yu-Gi-Oh Crisis continues.
Upper Deck has canceled all Yu-Gi-Oh organized play events in the US until further notice, due to its legal wrangling with Konami. This affects the Shonen Jump Championships, Regional Qualifiers, National Championships, and the monthly Hobby League.

L2 Design Group has put together a rather … interesting product proposal.
They create BIG war games called Mega games, and they sell them for $250 a pop (and you still have to supply the dice, rules, and a box). They’ll also take your game and sell it as a Mega game, if you want.
Their copy is rather amusing:
While Purple Pawn is an English language website, we like to recognize our readers from around the world—118 countries in the last month (hello Bhutan!). And so it seemed like a good opportunity when I noticed many new GDW Traveller RPG downloads available in German and Spanish on DriveThruRPG. [While we're on subject, I should also point out that the Traveller board games, including Azhanti High Lightning, were also recently posted there.]
But back to the intended topic—what sources can you recommend for roleplaying games in languages other than English?
