Indian Chess grandmaster Geetha Narayanan Gopal was banned from competing for a year owing to not participating in a National Championship.
All players ranked under 2650 are required to play in the tournament (frankly, I would have suspected that all players over a certain number be required to play). Geetha had a prior commitment to play in a tournament in Mexico.

In the latest brouhaha over nothing, the online version of Hasbro’s The Game of Life doesn’t require that your spouse be a different sex than you. This bothers someone.
Yes, this is so different from the original tabletop game which ensures that you can only pick a spouse of different sex … no wait, this just in: It doesn’t.
