Open Game Table

open-game-tableAs readers of Purple Pawn, you may not need much encouragement to check out the wonderful world of roleplaying blogs. Nevertheless, I call your attention to the release today of Volume I of Open Game Table: The Anthology of Roleplaying Game Blogs. This print publication collects 47 posts from 32 different blogs on such diverse topics as play styles, adventure design, RPG history, and encounter ideas. A team of volunteer judges selected these posts to showcase the amazing material that can be found online. Open Game Table is currently available through Amazon, but is also destined for local games stores—just the ticket for enlightening those players who still haven’t yet managed to catch the online bug.

the-world-of-munchkinBecause Steve Jackson Games knows how much you love Munchkin, the new World of Munchkin web site covers all three game versions (card, board, and RPG) and nothing else. There you’ll find information about the games and related accessories, direct links to the relevant forum and Warehouse 23 sections, and an FAQ with rules clarifications and errata. And because what would Munchkin be without ever greater options for stealing stuff and leveling up, the company has also just released Munchkin Booty 2: Jump the Shark, with new ships, a new class, more monsters, and of course more treasure.

Chebache

chebacheChebache is an abstract game that doesn’t look like it will earn any awards for rules elegance, but still looks rather interesting.

It is marketed as a combination of Backgammon, Checkers, Chess, and more. It definitely has a lot of Backgammon in it, and a bit of jumping like in Checkers, but it also has a whole lot of other things.
