hey_thats_my_fishPenguins & Friends is the name used for the board game Hey That’s My Fish ported to Nintendo’s Wii.

XBox Live has been doing well with ported board games, so it seems only natural that the Wii should follow suit; so far the board games they’ve been concentrating on are “balance board” games.

Unfortunately, this IGN review says that the port manages to replicate the game but not much more, making it a fairly flat 2D experience.

footsteps_of_the_prophetBTRC has released a new downloadable card game called Footsteps of the Prophet. It’s a game about squabbling for the Khalifate succession and struggling clans following the death of The Prophet.

According to the publisher, it’s a game of diplomacy, strategy, and treachery.

This game is a new addition to BTRC’s rather unusual list of board, card, and role-playing products.

Hide and Seek Board Game

lemon_tree_gamesHide and Seek is a new board game from sggc Lemon Tree Games.

It’s for up to 8 players; one plays It, and the others play the runners. It’s a roll and move game, but looks like it may involve some decision making (which direction to run, for example).

It’s also seems reminiscient of the 1967 game Hide & Seek by Ideal.

zurroundEvan Koch of Santa Rosa, CA has Asperger’s Syndrome, which caused him to spend much of his childhood in a mental hospital and has made his social life something of a mess.

In the meantime, he’s also developed 8 original board games, including the intriguing-looking Zurround (see source). He’s looking for a publisher. The games are a bit too complex for mainstream tastes.

Bunco Championships

teddy_bear_buncoInformation about championships for Bunco is almost as mystifying as it is for Dominoes. (Bunco is a decision-less dice game gaining popularity in America, especially for fundraiser activities.)

Prilosec OTC, a pharmaceutical corp, ran a World Championship from 2006 to 2008 to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, but they have stopped. (source)

The World Bunco Association lists the winner of the 2009 World Bunco Championships that took place in Nevada earlier this year. The date on the oversized check is March 8, so I assume that’s when it took place. No info on next year’s event.

Meanwhile, the Teddy Bear Bunco Association will be running their 6th Bunco Championships on June 13th in Pheonix, AZ. Proceeds to benefit the Real Gift Foundation.
