Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Foundry, the British miniatures company, has released a new book for Napoleonic battles. Full color and over 200 pages, Napoleon covers both the combat side—including rules for pontoon bridges, grand battery fire, ground conditions, setting fire to buildings, friendly fire, and ambulances—as well as the army assembly side—with articles on historical uniforms, unit composition, painting, and other aspects.

Hallo, everyone. My name is Phil Kilcrease, the newest contributor to Purple Pawn. I’ll be posting occasionally on the site with a focus on Indy Publishing (such as Taktika and Cornerstone), L5R and possibly even some board game design. Some quick facts about me…
That’s about it… I look forward to helping keep you in the know on the latest in the board game industry along with the rest of the Purple Pawn crew.
The table is yours,
Phil

Source in Russia reports a real-live honest-to-goodness chess playing robot, as pictured. I don’t know much about source, so can’t tell you its reliability.
It certainly wouldn’t be the first such claim in history.
And we’ve already seen electronic chess sets where the pieces move magically by themselves (via under-the-board magnets) or with disembodied robotic arms, so good news for the overlords.
