Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.

FamilyLore is an activity around which to tell stories about your family, childhood, and ancestry.
Some of the cards randomly move you backwards and forwards. The rest have questions for you to answer about yourself. First player to complete five trips around the board “wins”.

Following in the footsteps of Mind Flex from Mattel, which isn’t actually out until October, comes Star Wars Force Trainer from Uncle Milton (they hold the registered trademark for “Ant Farm”) and it should already be shipping.
Like the Mind Flex, you control the game with a device that straps onto your head, which then measures your brainwaves like an EKG and converts that to air velocity. Your task is to move the ball up and down according to the instructions given by the game.
Another new game shipping from GMT this week, PQ-17, is also a naval warfare game that uses wooden blocks to mark fleets and cardboard counters off-map to indicate individual ships. This one, though, is a World War II game, where the Allied player is attempting to move convoys to Russia while having to cope with difficult arctic weather and persistent Axis warships and air power. PQ-17 is an operational-level game where fuel limitations have a real impact and combat is abstracted.
