Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.

In The Shotgun Diaries, designer John Wick does zombie horror roleplaying by skipping the part where you roll dice to shoot zombies. He assumes that, like in all good zombie stories, there’s a never-ending supply and the real challenge is maintaining strength of character. For example, bonus dice are available for digging in to precious supplies. And then there’s the fear die. If you use that to succeed, your action must be to run away, hide, or abandon your friends.
John’s been selling hand assembled paper versions, meant to look like personal diaries, only in person at recent conventions. I purchased mine at Gen Con. Now, though, the game is also available as a PDF.
I never played any of the “specialty” Space Marines when I used to play 40K, but seeing the new Space Wolves has peaked my interest!
Games Workshop has released 5 new Space Wolves offerings plus the new codex. Included in the release are a Terminator set, Space Wolves pack, and 3 single models: Canis Wolfborn, Lukas the Trickster, and Njal Stormcaller.
All the new figures have some great detail, and are probably way above the level I’d ever be able to paint.
The codex and new models should have arrived at your local Games Workshop retailer by now.

Discovery Bay Games started in 2006 with a successful game called Baffle Gab (also the original name of the company). They currently have some nice investment money, some former members of Front Porch Classic (the ones that didn’t form FunHub), and they partner with Barnes and Nobles and are working on Target and Wal-Mart.
They’re also working on licensing games for the University of Oxford. (source)
