Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Supers has players, you guessed it, playing superheroes trying to protect a city from super villains. Released at Essen Spiel by Stefan Pietraszak, Supers is a 2 – 6 player cooperative game with a seemingly good amount of diversity packed into the box. Even though the game is cooperative, there is still only one winner who’ll become the city’s “official protector.”
The box contains 25 villains, 22 super powers, a deck of event cards, and 25 city tiles.
No news on where the game will be available outside of the Essen Spiel, but we do know the price will be €29.95.
Everytime I hear the word “supers” I think of The Incredibles. Judging from the box art, I think that’s what Stefan was going for.
New from Bucephalus Games is Dogfight, an abstract game with a light aerial combat theme. Bucephalus describes this as a great coffee-table-display game and I think they’re right. The game is very easy to learn—roll dice to move your planes around the board, chasing those of your opponent—but still involves some thought and planning—like which planes to move with which dice, and how to avoid the enemy. Dogfight also looks extremely nice. It includes a real wood board and eight die-cast metal miniature airplanes modeled and hand-painted with historical accuracy in mind.
Does anyone dispute that Munchkin is a light game, meant for the fun but let’s-not-take-it-too-seriously category? Despite 6,400 owners of the base game registered on Board Game Geek, as well as 123 plays logged so far this month, it has not a single post in the Strategy forum. Well, it looks like Seth Owen is going to correct that. He’s starting off with a survey of the cards in the Treasure Deck of Munchkin Impossible.
OK, that’s enough. Back to the silly side. Here’s a video of the Munchkin himself, playing Rock Band.
