The next game in the planning stages to become a movie is Risk, following Monopoly, Candyland, Battleship, Ouija, and others.
Unlike the movies planned about the games mentioned above, which are being produced by Universal Studios, Risk will be made by Sony. How did they steal this away from Universal, which entered a six year exclusive contract with Hasbro to develop movies based on their properties?

Amazon’s game recommendations for this holiday season:
Thumb Warriors is like next-gen Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots: portable, electronic, and updated to today’s style.
Each player wears one on his wrist and hand, and the players then thumb-wrestle. The object is to knock off three parts of your opponent’s warrior’s armor and then strike its exposed sensor.
I don’t know how durable they are or how long the batteries will last.

The Hockey Hall of Fame game, celebrating the Hockey Hall of Fame, is from sggc Kroeger, Inc.
It’s a roll-and-move trivia game, selling for around $37.
The Nottingham Criminal Justice Board and National Centre for Citizenship and Law have created a live action board game to indoctrinate children into rejecting criminal behavior. The game is called “Criminal Pursuit”.
According to source, 12 year old Emma Bimble at University of Nottingham Samworth Academy, in Bilborough, has been deterred from going into a life of crime after “a quick go” at the game. She says, “The game showed if you make the wrong decision you can be in trouble and ruin lives.”

Monster VS Monsters is a 2 player card game designed by Matt Jarbo where players are pitting famous monsters together in battle.
Self produced, the game contains: 20 cards, 2 sets of 6 sided dice, and 1 instruction card. All of this comes packaged in a reclosable bag for $10.
The game is basically similar to War with a dice rolling element, and is recommended for kids aged 5 – 18.
I have to say that it looks cute, but may not really be all that interesting for the over 10 crowd. The monsters are a bit humorous, but a glorified War is still War.
Still, I may have to pick up a set for my kids. It seems like a good way to work with numbers and basic addition.
Tournaments for Fantasy Flight’s A Game of Thrones, Call of Cthulhu, and Warhammer: Invasion card games return to Castle Stahlek in Germany this December. Prizes are being supplied by FFG and Heidelberger Spiele. And accommodations in the castle are included in registration.
