GMT hasn’t given up on the old hex-and-counter war game. Out from the company this week is The Caucasus Campaign, based on Hitler’s drive in to Russian territory in the summer of 1942. GMT describes the game as a “moderately complex game with large hexes and easy-viewing 5/8 counters.” For aging customers perhaps?

The rudely named F___, Marry, or Kill is a party game where, given three choices of the members of the appropriate gender, you must decide which one you would prefer to have sex with (once), marry (without sex), or kill (or dump). You are forced to choose exactly one activity for each of the three choices.

The game goes by dozens of other names, each varying either the ordering or the wording of the three options.

Imagination Entertainment published Shag Marry Dump!. Milton Bradley published Marry, Date or Dump?. Other variations include Marry (Wed), Shag (Date, Do, Screw, Kiss or Snog [these last two sometimes a fourth category, or sometimes a third category as opposed to date]), Kill (Dump, Cliff, Push/Throw off a cliff).

National Gaming Day at your library (also here) is a project spearheaded by the American Library Association. Gaming here refers to both video and board gaming (the latter organized by Scott Nicholson). It is scheduled for Saturday, November 14.

Hasbro donated  more than 16,700 games in support of their brand … er, I mean the event. (source)

Precis Intermedia has announced the upcoming release of A Fistfull of Miniatures 2E, around 23 years after the initial release of A Fistfull of Miniatures, and only 3 years after the rerelease of the game and it’s companion volume.

The new book will be available in both print and PDF versions, and will support battles from 100 to 10,000 15mm miniatures. Paper templates are also included with the book if you don’t have any miniatures on hand.  The rules have been rewritten, reorganized, and more thoroughly explained in 2E, and cover mostly historical battles.

Advanced rules and fantasy battle expansions are already in the works.

Dungeon Twister 2: Prison from Asmodee is both an expansion to the original Dungeon Twister, as well as a revised second edition, playable on its own. Some of the characters and rooms are the same, but most are new. Also different in this version is the inclusion of plastic miniatures and rules for solitaire play.

In case you weren’t familiar with the first version, Dungeon Twister is kind of a combined fantasy-RPG and abstract game. In addition to dealing with the standard hazards, players must also cope with a board that moves.

Tell me, does it say something about a game when as an alternative to a character record sheet the publisher sells a 24 page character record book? Is that a sign of a complex game? Or perhaps it means that the game produces such fans that players feel the need to record every detail about their characters. Whatever the case, Mongoose Publishing is now offering such an accessory for Traveller. In fact, 24 pages is just what you get in the softcover book. Mongoose will also be offering free add-ons that customize the Character Record Pack for different Traveller settings. The one for Judge Dredd is available now.
