According to a report on Gamasutra, iOS app developers are being told by Apple to rename their products without the word “memory” or face having them removed from the App Store in over 40 countries. A comment on Gamasutra’s article even suggests that using “memory” only as a keyword was enough to receive Apple’s notice.

The request was apparently triggered by a trademark claim from Ravensburger, the German game and puzzle company. In Europe, Ravensburger publishes a board game series titled “Memory“, which not surprisingly is a memory game—y’know, flip cards over until you find a pair that match.

Ravensburger has no trademark on “memory” in the United States.
