LOTR Fellowship of the Ring DBGOh my, that is a long title, isn’t it! However, it does give you a good idea of what’s in the box—a deck-building card game based on the first Lord of the Rings movie.

Typical for a deck-building game, each turn a player draws five cards, plays them in any order, and uses the accumulated power points to purchase additional cards. Cards can be purchased from “The Path” (which is refilled each turn), from the stack of Valor cards, or from the Archenemy deck.

Some cards are Ambush cards. When they’re placed in The Path, they attack the next player.

Attacks force players to accept Corruption cards. Corruption cards fill players hands and do nothing but reduce victory points at the end of the game.

As you might expect, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Deck-building Game is just the first in a series. Cryptozoic is planning two more, for the rest of the movie trilogy, and a Hobbit one.
