FIDE has announced an agreement that authorizes the Chess Network Company to operate an official online portal for playing Chess.
According to the announcement, the website will feature online tournaments and results there will be considered in the granting of offline titles. Regarding how this squares with the significant potential for cheating in online games, FIDE only revealed that the site “will be launched with very strong anti cheating technology.”
While registration and playing will be free on the website, those who want ratings for their online games will be required to pay €25.
