Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Coming in August from Ares Games is Sails of Glory, a gaming system that recreates naval battles in the Age of Sail.
The starter set comes with enough cards and pre-painted ship miniatures for a 2-4 player game, but can be expanded with ship packs.
Some of the current ship packs include, the HMS Concorde 1783 – British Frigate, the Hermione 1779 – French Frigate, the Embuscade 1798 – French, and the HMS Cleopatra 1779 – British.
The ships are beautiful, while pricey. Take a look at the HMS Bellona below.
The starter set will have a MSRP of $89.90, while the ship packs will be $17.90.

I can’t help but think that they are taking that name to prevent Osprey/Slitherine from using it later on as part of their “Field of Glory” game series. Probably nothing to my speculation, but it’s the first thing that occurred to me.
