Magic The GatheringWizards of the Coast has instituted a new ranking system for professional Magic: The Gathering players. The system orders players based on Pro Points—points earned so far in the current season plus a portion of the total points earned in the previous season:

Ranking Points = [Player’s Current Season Pro Points] + [Player’s Previous Season Pro Points × (1 – % of this year’s available Pro Points awarded)]

By the end of the season, the Top 25 Magic Pro Rankings will conveniently match Player of the Year results, while during the season it will also recognize overall performance from the previous year.

Updated standings will be posted by WOTC weekly. The current top-ranked player is Josh Utter-Leyton, who’s followed by Ben Stark and Shahar Shenhar.
