Fabiano Caruana of Italy and Boris Gelfand of Israel tied for first place at the Grand Prix in Paris. Unfortunately for Caruana, that leaves him just 10 points shy of qualifying for the 2014 Candidates Tournament. Jeremy Dezani conquered Pro Tour Theros in Dublin with a mono-blue deck.

At the Vietnam National Team Xiangqi Championships, where 18 cities and 160 individuals participated, Ho Chi Minh City won gold in the women’s blitz, men’s blitz, and women’s classic events. Ha Noi won gold in the men’s classic event.
