Empty Room Provides Options

empty-room-studios-logoUsing Adobe Acrobat’s layer features, Empty Room Studios is advancing the state of the art in print-and-play miniatures terrain maps. With the company’s two most recent products, Cavern Tiles – Basic Set 1 and World Tiles – Blasted Canyon Set, users can customize tiles by changing out various features such as walls, doors, buildings, and vegetation. This not only adds variety and stretches the investment, it also means that the same product can be more useful in multiple genres. Ruins appropriate in a desert fantasy setting can be excluded from a World War II map.

And for some guidance on mounting printed tiles on stronger backing, Empty Room Studios offers a free downloadable tutorial.

Cranium Phone Number Leads to Sex Line

CraniumThe toll-free number on the instruction sheets of some Cranium products apparently leads to a sex-line. The company advises its consumers not to call that number.

Instead, the company advises consumers to call them to get the new phone number. However, they didn’t supply a new phone number for consumers to call to get the new phone number.

No problem. Just call the phone number listed on the instruction sheets to reach Cranium so as to get the new phone number.

Don’t thank me; I’m a giver.

Update: New number 1: 877-272-6486. If you bought a Cranium version produced after October 2008, get a new instruction sheet at new number 2: 888-836-7025. (source)

Monster Hunter Hunting Cards

monster_hunter_vgMonster Hunter is a popular video game series for console and portable gaming platforms. Some of its titles were never released outside of Japan.

Capcom is planning to bring one of the older portable versions (Monster Hunter G) to the Nintendo Wii. Why not a more recent version is not exactly clear. To sweeten the deal, they are also including a preview version of an upcoming title in the series, as well as something called “Monster Hunter Hunting Cards”, some kind of TCG.

No further info available on the TCG. There was already series of cards with Monster Hunter pictures on them (below), but I don’t know if they’re related, or if the original cards were a TCG.

Army of Zero: Card Game and Competition

army_of_zeroArmy of Zero from Point Zero Games is a combat card game that plays like a glorified version of War and RPS, with dice rolling. It looks like it plays quickly, is easy to understand, and should appeal to young males.

But it’s also a real-world competition. Each of the cards holds a clue to a puzzle. The first player solve it and submit the answer gets 1000 GBP.
