I’m currently working on building a game table for my game group, and came across these great looking covers from Boards and Bits. The covers are 1/8″ open cell rubber and are topped with a polyester fabric. Boards and Bits describes them as very similar to a mouse pad. They have a bunch of sizes and quality grades available. Covers are available in green and black and range from $22.90 to $86.22.
I was originally going to felt my new table once it’s completed, but now I’m seriously considering getting one of these. I’ll end up paying a bit more, but it’s worth it for the amount of use the new table will get.

If you are going to the trouble of building a nice game table, make it real nice and use leather or a good synthetic leather. You’ll probably be living with the table much longer than you imagine. Consider it permanent.
Best of luck!
