Organizers of a Croatian Chess tournament strip-searched a participant on suspicion of cheating. The Bulgarian player entered the event unranked but after eight rounds had defeated a series of masters and grand masters. The search revealed no electronic devices or other methods of cheating. Another participant, though, suggested to a local reporter that the suspect player could have had a signaling device “under the skin, in the ear, or in the teeth.”
