About to hit retail are new 6¼ inch tall DC HeroClix figures with 3 inch bases—Batman (two versions), Superman (two versions), and the Joker. Clearly intended by WizKids and NECA more as collectors’ items than game pieces, Extreme HeroClix will be exclusive to Toys “R” Us and the Warner Bros. Home Entertainment eBay store, where they’re being paired with DC Comics DVDs for $30.
A lot of people are excited about Adventure Time Fluxx, which hits shelves on July 31st. How is it that I didn’t hear about Batman Fluxx until just now? Coming out August 7th, this version of Fluxx is based off the best incarnation of The Dark Knight yet…Batman: The Animated Series. Put out by both Looney Labs and Cryptozoic, the artwork I’ve seen already has me pining for the day of my youth.
Mark Hamill will always be my Joker. Kevin Conroy, my Batman.
This is a version of Fluxx that will most certainly be added to my shelves. Even at $20, which seems a bit high for Fluxx, I’ll still snag it just for the theme.
Coming in September are two licensed versions of Rory’s Story Cubes: Batman Story Cubes and Moomin Story Cubes.
LEGO plans four new constructable board games for this summer. One, a Legends of Chima board game, I wrote about yesterday.
A Batman board game has Batman and Robin racing around Gotham catching villains. For Lord of the Rings, LEGO will release The Battle of Helm’s Deep as a “customizable strategy game” (distinct from the construction set). And though they asked me not to take pictures of it, LEGO also plans for August the Story Mixer board game, which incorporates story-telling elements. The game includes about 20 constructed miniature objects (such as a rocket-ship, a piano, and a birthday cake), about a dozen pawns (half people, half animals), and a spinner. On their turns, players take a spin and then have to tell a story based on the combination of pawn and object.
