Groups that register for The Really Big Board Game Day will receive supporting material, as well as in some cases games to give as prizes.

If you are actively serving in the US Armed Forces (at home or abroad) or you know someone who is, you can request a game by going here and filling out the form. The games are free and are shipped for free. They can even be shipped to APO/FPO addresses.

Pandemic Parties Combat Ebola

Global Pandemic PartyWith the goal of raising $100,000 for Doctors Without Borders to combat Ebola in Africa, game designer Matt Leacock has invited people around the world to host Pandemic Parties. The idea is to use his game about fighting the worldwide spread of disease as a fundraising tool for the real thing.

Many such events will be taking place this coming weekend for what’s been dubbed the Global Pandemic Party. The overall campaign, however, is scheduled to continue through January 31st. More than 60 events are listed on the campaign website, most of them open to the public.

For those interested in hosting their own Pandemic Party, the website also provides supporting materials, such as printable flyers, donation cards, and a special Pandemic scenario with role cards.

MattelWhat if the money went to support children in need?

As part of a fundraising effort, the Toy Industry Foundation is auctioning off a 30 minute pitch meeting with executives of Mattel. The winners will meet at Mattel’s El Segundo, California office with Lisa McKnight, Senior Vice President of U.S. Marketing, and Evelyn Mazzocco, Senior Vice President of Creative for the Global Girls’ and Games Brands.
