A Kniziathon is a casual board game tournament in which all the games played are ones designed by Reiner Knizia. And as is typical for the prolific designer (he’s had more than 600 published!) scoring for the event is somewhat complex—involving players’ finishing positions and number, complexity, and length of games played.
Kniziathons are not actually a new phenomenon. Fans have been running them for years. However, as 2015 occasions the 30th anniversary of Reiner’s professional game design career, the man himself is making a special effort to promote them this year. Those who register their Kniziathon through the Knizia Games website will be provided with prizes to distribute: three winners certificates, three games, and three photographs of Reiner, all autographed.
