A new online version of Settlers of Catan is in the works. According to Engadget, Catan Anytime is a joint project of Microsoft and Bontom Games. The website is currently in open beta mode and for the time being requires players to bring their own opponents.
Microsoft has announced a slate of original video programming to be released through its Xbox game platform. One of the shows in development by Xbox Entertainment Studios is based on Deadlands, the horror-western mashup RPG from Pinnacle Entertainment Group and Shane Hensley.
Deadlands has seen a number of incarnations, including d20 and and GURPS, but currently uses Pinnacle’s Savage Worlds game.
According to Microsoft, its new Xbox Originals programming will make use of the system’s interactive features and will also be available through other outlets.
Xbox Entertainment Studios has committed to a script based on the successful pen-and-paper role playing game created by Shane Lacy Hensley. “Deadlands” is a genre-bending alternative history of the Weird West, filled with undead gunfighters, card-slinging sorcerers, mad scientists, secret societies, and fearsome abominations.
