Mind Sports International (MSI) and the North American Scrabble Players Association (NASPA) are teaming up for a new Scrabble tournament series [PDF]. The program will see local events feed in to satellite divisions and regional qualifiers. And from there, one in 60 will earn invitations (plus accommodation and a travel stipend) to the 2016 MSI World Championships.
While the word list in use at the World Championships will be CSW (Collins Scrabble Words), those used at individual events may vary, depending on the choice of the organizer.
Suffering from declining support by Hasbro, Scrabble’s publisher in the United States, the National Scrabble Association has closed up shop. For tournament play, however, there is still the North American Scrabble Players Association.
