Pokémon: XY—Evolutions was released today and The Pokémon Company is celebrating with a 90’s themed website.
For those who missed our previous coverage, Pokémon: XY—Evolutions celebrates 20 years of Pokémon by revisiting the original Pokémon cards. All the cards from the original Pokémon set have been made modern with higher HP and stronger attacks. That’s all that’s been updated, though, as the art and card layouts are exactly like they were in 1997! Of course, there are some new cards, like EX and BREAK cards, tossed into the mix.

The final expansion in the Pokémon TCG: XY Series, XY—Evolutions, celebrates 20 years of Pokémon by revisiting the original Pokémon cards. This expansion has the look and feel of those classic Base Set cards, with updated game logic and stats. Long-time and new Pokémon fans alike can see Pokémon-EX in the Base Set frame, offering a nostalgic twist on these powerful cards.
The new set will contain over 100 new cards, and includes cards such as Mega Venusaur-EX, Mega Charizard-EX, and Mega Blastoise-EX, Dragonite-EX, Ninetales BREAK, Machamp BREAK, and Mega Slowbro-EX. The two new theme decks, Pikachu Power and Mewtwo Mayhem, will feature fan favorites in new and updated fashion.
Evolutions will hit Toys R Us shelves on October 30th, Gamestop shelves on October 31st, and other retailers on November 2nd.
