Roar! from publisher Trefl of Poland is an augmented reality deduction game with sound-effects for clues. It’s about an escaped laboratory monster versus the scientists attempting to recapture it.
One player, tablet in hand, acting for the monster, makes their moves on a virtual version of the game board. Each turn, the space on which they end their move triggers a set of sounds—birds, ambulance sirens, machinery—depending on the features of adjacent spaces. The other players, interpreting the sounds as clues, make their moves on the real board toward where they believe the monster is hiding. The tablet’s camera tracks those movements for the virtual board and alerts the monster player when they have been captured.
