Games Workshop’s extension to its Hobbit line of miniatures for the latest film release, The Desolation of Smaug, includes squads of Mirkwood rangers and palace guards; individual figures for Legolas, Tauriel, Thranduil, Thrain, and Beorn; giant spiders; and dwarves in barrels. A 64 page softcover book expands either The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Strategy Battle Game manual or The Hobbit: Escape From Goblin Town boxed set with eight new scenarios, guidelines for fighting battles in Mirkwood, and rules for linking games in to a “dynamic narrative”.
