A month after Scrabulous should have shut down, it’s still going strong. The companies that own the brand, Hasbro and Mattel, are reluctant to come down any harder on the application’s owners, owing to the vast number of people crying out for them not to do so. Rumors about deals in the works abound.
In the meantime, two authorized electronic versions of Scrabble are on the way and it will be an interesting experiment to see how these play out in the face of Scrabulous. Will they make a deal? Will Scrabulous finally come to an end and the user base shift over to the new, authorized, versions?
