Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Corunea is a new card game, optimistically called a “role card game” by its publishers, in that it is supposed to be half CCG/half RPG. From my initial read through the rulebook and site, it seems to be more three quarters of a CCG/one quarter of an RPG.
Although given a straightforward fantasy theme and world in the rules, and cards like climate and location, all of the play is combat-related, like a CCG battle. The cards use RPG terminology, but players don’t gain experience, do anything much but fight (or heal, or move), or, in fact, do any role playing. So it’s really just an RPG themed CCG.
As far as the CCG part goes, there are no rare cards. Only one card is allowed per deck, eliminating deck building around a few key cards. This is good or bad, depending on how you feel about deck building.
Play is for 2 or 4 players. The artwork looks fantastic.
