A poker run is a game of poker played over a great distance, where the distance is covered using motorcycles, power boats, airplanes, or anything else agree upon. At each stop, each player picks a card. The player with the best hand at the end of the run wins the hand.

This ridiculous idea is not quite as ridiculous as it sounds (*cough* Chess Boxing *cough*). The run isn’t a race, it’s just done to raise money for charity; although it may sometimes just be done for the thrill of the travel.

Harley Owner’s of Brunswick, NJ are currently doing a poker run through three states to raise money for the Unity House’s Domestic Violence Housing program. On the upscale side, Poker Runs America is a magazine devoted to motorboat poker runs whose readers hold numerous such events around the year.
