Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
The Gazette offers us a small piece on historical war gamers and last month’s Historicon, the largest historical mini game convention in North America.
The piece profiles Terry Carman, a devotee who paints all of his own terrain and minis before gaming. Says his son, Andrew:
It got me interested in the military … it was much more social than playing video games. Some people have things that release stress. They go to the gym or they do [other things]. For my dad it’s always been miniatures. Just to sit down in a quiet room with some miniatures and a paint brush … that’s his way of relaxing.
