Six guys in British Columbia will attempt to break the world record for longest continuous playing of the same board game. Game of choice: Cities and Knights of Catan. The attempt is set to start on Friday morning at 9 am and go for 50 hours.
6-player Cities and Knights? Feh. The game takes too long. Oh, wait a minute …
The previous record is held by four Germans who played Carcassonne for 42 hours and 48 minutes.
They have a web site, and are asking people to support them by donating to Canadian research into cancer.

Update: They succeeded. (source)

1I’m impressed Purple Pawn, our newspaper article was just released this morning and you’re all over it. I googled the record and saw your site. We’re looking forward to the attempt. We had an 8.5 hour practice last Saturday got our pee breaks down to 1.5 minutes taking only 4 minutes of breaks over the 8 hours. Check our website on Monday to see if we do it.

3Nice to see this story. We completed the goal of 50 yesterday at 11 in the morning and we are very greatful for the amazing support we had from friends and family as well as many people we don’t know. In the end there were $1200 donated to the Canadian Cancer Society!
We are extremely happy and tired. Thanks so much.
