Not so fast says Upper Deck Entertainment to Konami. With the support of courts in California and Europe, Upper Deck will continue to distribute the Yu-Gi-Oh! CCG outside of Asia. In it’s lawsuits, Upper Deck alleged that Konami failed to negotiate in good faith under a letter of intent previously signed by the two companies. The courts apparently agreed. (source)
The California courts have been a busy place for Konami. ICv2 reports that in October the company filed suit against Vintage Sports Cards of Texas for repackaging authentic Yu-Gi-Oh! cards with counterfeit rare cards. Check your decks! The allegedly counterfeit cards were sold with a “packaged and distributed by Vintage Sports Cards” label and use different holographic security foil, paper, and protective coating.
