Welcome to Purple Pawn, covering games played around the world by billions of people every day.
Indy has nothing on you, as you search for the Bakong temple emeralds in the heart of the Cambodian jungle. All you have to do is navigate the trails, avoid the traps, and get out quick—you know what always happens at the end after you’ve grabbed the temple’s treasure! All this in Asmodee’s latest 30 minute game for two to five players—available now at U.S. retailers.

I wish there were fewer posts like this, which amount to forwarded press releases, and more posts with some actual information about the game. Not necessarily a full review, but just some guidance. What kind of play is it? How competitive? What components? Anything to give me some idea other than general aesthetics as to whether I would be interested in the game… *shrugs*
Maybe I’m being greedy. :D
Chris, thank you for the comment. Your input is always welcome. I will never simply forward a press release. But I acknowledge that this may have read that way. At Purple Pawn, we try to cover the range of tabletop games for a wide audience, and in doing so we may sometimes not provide the level of analysis you would prefer. To improve in that area, what we really need right now are more contributors.
If anyone’s interested, please let us know! We’ve got a list of potential stories waiting for your contribution.
Thanks David! I tried not to make this sound like a dig, and I appreciate you’re courting a wide audience. I just felt this particular post lacked any sign that you had added your own perspective to the announcement – hence my “accusation” of simply forwarding a press release. :p
I certainly don’t expect (or want!) this list to read like “Boardgamegeek lite” – but all the voices here know their boardgames, so I guess I have high standards for what I expect from each post! :)
Keep up the good work!
PS: More writers? You are already the highest volume blog in my reader, how would we ever keep up! :)
If we offer a much higher volume of posts, we would add a way to subscribe only to the desired tags.
Step 1: Create so much good content that Earthlings are forced to accept…
Step 2: Develop RSS feed reader that ties directly to the brain.
Step 3: Let the invasion begin.
